Terms of Service for LLM Cleanup

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using LLM Cleanup (the “Add-on”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Add-on.

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Add-on interface or via the Google Workspace Marketplace listing. Your continued use of the Add-on after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

LLM Cleanup is a free Google Docs add-on that provides document formatting, cleanup, and export functionality. The Add-on helps users:

  • Format and clean up document content
  • Style tables with various themes
  • Convert Markdown syntax to Google Docs formatting
  • Remove formatting inconsistencies
  • Export documents to multiple formats (Markdown, HTML, JSON)
  • Scan for or redact Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
  • Apply professional spacing and layout settings

Key Service Characteristics:

  • Currently free (usage-based paid plans may be added in the future)
  • Any paid plans or usage limits introduced in the future will be subject to separate pricing terms disclosed at the time of purchase
  • No account creation or authentication required
  • Runs entirely within Google Docs
  • No external servers or data transmission
  • Transparent privacy practices

3. License Grant

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use LLM Cleanup for personal, educational, or commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

You may:

  • Use the Add-on for any lawful purpose
  • Use the Add-on in educational settings (K-12, higher education)
  • Use the Add-on for commercial document preparation
  • Recommend the Add-on to others

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Add-on
  • Attempt to circumvent any security measures
  • Use the Add-on for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Abuse, harass, or harm the service or other users
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Google’s systems

4. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Your own document content and how you use the Add-on
  • Maintaining backups of important documents (use Google Docs version history)
  • Reviewing documents before sharing, especially when using automated features like PII redaction
  • Compliance with applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction
  • Ensuring you have necessary permissions to process any documents you use with the Add-on

Important Reminders:

  • Always review redacted documents before sharing – automated PII detection may not catch everything
  • Use Ctrl/Cmd + Z or Google Docs version history to undo changes if needed
  • The Add-on processes your document in place – we recommend saving a copy before using “Nuke Everything” or making major changes

5. Intellectual Property

Our Rights

The LLM Cleanup Add-on, including its code, design, and documentation, is proprietary software owned by Henry Reith. All rights reserved.

Your Rights

You retain all ownership rights to your document content. We do not claim any ownership over the documents you process with the Add-on.

All formatting changes, cleanup operations, and exports are provided as a service to you – the resulting content remains your property.

6. Privacy and Data Use

LLM Cleanup is designed with privacy as a core principle:

  • We do not collect, store, or transmit user data outside Google Docs.
  • All document processing happens locally within Google Docs
  • Settings are stored in Google Apps Script Properties Service (private to your Google account)
  • No analytics, tracking, or telemetry
  • No external servers or third-party APIs are used beyond Google Workspace services required to operate the Add-on

7. Compliance

LLM Cleanup is designed to comply with applicable privacy and data protection laws, including COPPA, FERPA, GDPR, and CCPA, because it does not collect, store, or transmit personal data.

LLM Cleanup complies with:

  • Google API Services User Data Policy – Limited Use requirements

8. Educational Use

LLM Cleanup is designed to be safe for schools and classrooms:

  • No data collection from students
  • No parental consent required under typical use
  • Designed for use in COPPA- and FERPA-regulated environments
  • Student-Safe preset for automatic PII protection
  • No advertisements or tracking
  • Teacher-friendly with educational use cases

Teachers and educational institutions may use the Add-on freely in their classrooms and for administrative purposes.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE ADD-ON IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Accuracy, reliability, or completeness of results
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Freedom from viruses or harmful components

Specific Disclaimers:

  • We do not guarantee that the Add-on will meet your specific requirements
  • We do not guarantee that PII detection will catch all sensitive information
  • We do not guarantee that formatting results will exactly match your expectations
  • We are not responsible for any data loss (use Google Docs version history to recover)

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

This includes, but is not limited to, damages resulting from:

  • Use or inability to use the Add-on
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your documents
  • Any changes made to your documents by the Add-on
  • Any errors or omissions in the Add-on’s functionality
  • Failure to detect or redact PII
  • Any other matter relating to the Add-on

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the Add-on shall be limited to the greater of:

(a) the amount you paid for the Add-on in the twelve (12) months prior to the claim, or

(b) one US dollar (USD $1).

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless LLM Cleanup, its developer (Henry Reith), and any affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from:

  • Your use or misuse of the Add-on
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Your document content
  • Any claim that your use of the Add-on caused damage to a third party

12. Service Availability

We do not guarantee continuous availability of the Add-on.

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify, suspend, or discontinue the Add-on at any time without notice
  • Impose usage limits or restrictions
  • Update the Add-on’s features or functionality
  • Remove the Add-on from Google Workspace Marketplace

We are not liable for any downtime, service interruptions, or discontinuation.

13. Termination

Your Rights

You may stop using the Add-on at any time by uninstalling it from Google Docs. When you uninstall, your settings are automatically deleted by Google’s Apps Script service.

Our Rights

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Add-on immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms.

14. Changes to Service

We may update the Add-on’s features, functionality, or requirements at any time. We will notify you of significant changes through:

  • The Add-on interface
  • Google Workspace Marketplace listing updates
  • Email (if we have your contact information from support interactions)

Continued use of the Add-on after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new features or requirements.

15. Third-Party Services

The Add-on relies on Google Workspace services, including:

  • Google Docs
  • Google Apps Script
  • Google Apps Script Properties Service

Your use of these Google services is subject to Google’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for Google’s services or any changes Google makes to their platform.

16. Export and Third-Party Use

When you export documents using the Add-on (to Markdown, HTML, or JSON), you are responsible for:

  • Where you paste or upload the exported content
  • How third parties use the exported content
  • Ensuring exported content complies with any applicable terms of service for destination platforms

We are not responsible for what happens to exported content after it leaves Google Docs.

17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Add-on shall be resolved in the courts of Australia.

For users in the European Union: Nothing in these Terms affects your rights as a consumer under EU law.

For users in California: You have the right to opt out of any arbitration provisions, if added in the future.

This section does not limit any consumer rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and LLM Cleanup regarding the Add-on and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

20. No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.

21. Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms without restriction.

  1. No warranties: We provide the Add-on “as is” – it should work great, but we can’t guarantee perfection.
  1. Not liable for issues: We’re not responsible if something goes wrong. Always keep backups (Google Docs has version history).
  1. Your content is yours: We don’t own or claim rights to your documents. Your work stays yours.
  1. We respect privacy: We don’t send your documents or personal data to our own servers. Everything runs inside Google Docs.
  1. Can change or stop: We can update or discontinue the Add-on at any time (but we don’t plan to!).
  1. Safe for schools: Designed to be COPPA/FERPA compliant, safe for K-12 classrooms.
